I see what you mean...but there are some songs you just can't 'cover' in my opinion. You know how I feel about anyone but Ms. Judy singing 'Over The Rainbow.'
This song isn't quite in that category, but somehow it feels like the "edge" that I love about Cash's version is gone. And....I miss it.
Right I totally get that part also. I just really like what he did with the instrumentation. I'm also glad he didn't try and pull off Cash's edge because he would have sounded very very silly.
