A Judge make a good choice

Judge sides with wild salmon

Basically the Bush admin and a bunch of property rights groups ( big time corp farmers who want to remove salmon and steelhead protection so that they can get cheaper and better access to river water, so that they are free to cut down and trees they wish, and finally are free to use any pesticides they wish no matter what the impact on the environment ) were pushing to count fish raised in a hatchery as the same thing as wild born and raised fish. There are numerous problem with this, including the fish being far more likely to catch diseases, the hatchery fish having far weaker instincts, and the wild fish will be out bred by the hatchery fish simply because of sheer numbers.
Hatchery fish have their place, like here in Ohio. The main type of trout we have in Ohio is hatchery raised steelhead and I'm very happy to have the chance to catch them but they aren't replacing a native population of fish in Ohio. This is certainly not the case in the steelhead and salmon's native range. I just hope the appeals judge is as sane as this one was.
