Cool article on online maps

NY Times on Web Maps

Nope, I won't eat it.

NY Times Article about Bioengineering animals and eating them.

I can't imagine ever willingly eating bio-engineered animals. There is simply too big a chance of unintended side affects, in my opinion. The original unmodified animals have properly feed us humans for thousands of years I really don't see a reasons to change that. The environmental effects are also too dangerous. If a large group of the fast growing salmon were to escape, it's happened numerous times with farm raised salmon, and they were to out compete the native wild salmon but turn out to be sterile? Then we caused the extinction of a species because of arrogance in thinking that we know all there is to know when we plainly don't.

I know I sound like a Luddite but I normally really support technology, I just think that we don't have a good enough handle on bio-tech and the side affects to pursue it int this manner. I'm all for bio-tech in medical uses but not the engineering of new organisms.

A little Braggin'....

I gotta brag on the new pup, Shelby. She turns 12 weeks today and is doing absolutely awesome. She has several times sight chased bunnies and scent trailed right to the bunny several more times. Just this weekend she opened up ( mini bays that will develop into full fledged bays ) on both the scent trail and in a sight chase for the first time. At 11 weeks old that is really fast. She is doing well with all her other training and I even think Sophie is starting to come around.

However, she is wearing me out. SO MUCH energy followed by a total and complete crash. She'll go like crazy and then sleep like the dead. She's a chewing machine. and requires constant supervision if she is not sleeping, in her kennel, or tied up outside. Even then I feel like I'm always keeping one eye on her.

It's all worth it though. Watching her grow and develop as a hunting dog and as a house pet has been really cool. Seems like she learns something new everyday. I can't wait until fall and until she's ready for hunting season.

And now Debuting Shelby....

Today Katie and I became proud puppy parents for the second time. Below are alot of, too many really, pictures of our newest family member. My little future hunting buddy, the beagle known as Shelby:

The proud Momma and pup. :)

At the Canton Blues festival

This is for Gwen you loves all things miniature.

Picture of Robert Cray who performed at the blues fest and was amazing. Incredible guitar player and singer. I would highly recommend that anyone go see him if they get the chance.

Here is a video that Katie recorded of him.

Here is my flickr account with a bunch of pictures that we (mostly Katie but I did take some) have taken. More will be added tomorrow.
